Welcome!

I have practiced in the field of counseling and psychotherapy with adults, elders, adolescents and children for over 28 years. I am licensed in the state of New York to practice psychotherapy as a clinical social worker. I received my PhD from New York University and have had extensive supervision and training in working with individuals, couples, and families. I taught graduate school and college, and have published numerous professional papers.

Practice Philosophy:

My practice philosophy is to assist people to examine the experiences and behaviors in their lives that promote troubling symptoms. This helps free the person up to make other choices in order to find more meaningful ways of interacting in their social world.

Treatment Approaches:

A single approach cannot explain everyone’s difficulties. I use a more psychodynamic psychotherapy which includes; ego psychology, object-relations and self psychology. I have found existential psychotherapy to have wide explanatory powers. A family systems approach, experiential psychotherapy and REBT are also utilized.
Services/Practice Specialties:

Over the past couple of decades, I have developed particular expertise in the treatment of various anxiety disorders, depression and Bi-polar Disorder. I do work with couples on relationship issues as well as marriage counseling. Additionally, I have treated people with life transitions and loss, and LGBT issues.
Other areas include:
Parenting Issues
OCD
ADHD
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
